Religious Education

Parents are the first educators of their children in all things.
Religious Education is no exception.

At St Raphael's School, our Religious Education Program is set up to support parents raising their children in the Catholic faith and those wanting to share in an environment of spiritual development.

The school follows the Catholic Education Office, Religious Education Framework, Crossways.   As a Catholic school we celebrate our Catholic tradition by the teaching of Religious Education units that allow students to gain knowledge as well providing opportunities to explore their personal spirituality. As well as being a fundamental curriculum area the religious dimension of our school is integrated into all aspects of school life and we are inspired by the example of Jesus in all we say and do.

Celebration is a key note of our Religious Education Program and masses, prayer services and assemblies are held regularly to enrich the children’s appreciation of their faith. Children in Years R-7 attend regular Masses at school and on Holy Days at St Raphael’s Church. Classes are given the opportunity to lead the Masses on a rostered basis and parents are always welcome to attend.

Sacramental Program

We work closely with our parish in running a Sacramental Program to support parents in the preparation of children for the Sacraments. These session are currently held in the evenings and are for children and parents to attend together. Students must be at least 7 years of age before commencing the program and the preparation runs for most of the school year.  The Sacraments are celebrated in the following order Reconciliation, Confirmation and then First Communion as directed by the local church office.
