Author drops by to meet reviewer

Popular children's author Tim Harris has won some more fans after visiting St Raphael's School in Parkside.

Tim shared some writing tips with the Year 4-7 students and also met Year 6 student reviewer Harry, who had reviewed his first book in the Mr Bambuckle's Remarkables series for the Education liftout.

"It was really nice to meet Harry after his fine words for book one and say hello in person," Tim says.

Our Animation Sensations

Our Year 7s have been doing some really amazing things as part of their visual literacy focus this term.

They have been creating their own podcasts, animated films, comics and Flip Book animations.

It is no wonder that it caught the eye of the Advertiser and featured on page 40 in the paper!

Channel 7 Helicopter Visit

12 November 2014


On Wednesday 12 November we had a visit from Jane Doyle and the Channel 7 Helicopter!

The helicopter landed on our front oval amidst cheers and waves from all the school. All the students were arranged in a huge 125 formation that was clearly visible from the air.

Once the chopper landed, Jane was escorted to the courtyard where she and her chopper pilot Sam were interviewed.

It is one of the oldest Catholic primary schools in Adelaide and its vibrant and inclusive history is evident today in its welcoming school community.

St Raphael's School, Parkside will celebrate 125 years of educating Adelaide Children on November 16 with mass at St Raphael's Church followed by a community day an the Glen Osmond Rd school grounds.

Every time Mario Panunzio drops his son at St Raphael's, he is reminded of his own years at the Parkside school.

Back then, the Sisters of Mercy headed to the school, there was a convent in its grounds and the strong sense of belonging made him feel like he belonged.
