Our Mercy Values

St Raphael's School is a Catholic school founded in the Mercy tradition. We seek to live out our Mercy Values of being compassionate, respectful and just.

Our three Mercy Values underpin all that we do and say within our community and beyond.

Our Mercy Tradition

St Raphael’s school was started by the Sisters of Mercy 131 years ago. Catherine McAuley is the foundress of the Mercy Sisters, the order that opened St Raphael's School. The Sisters of Mercy are involved in assisting in areas of poverty and for the imprisoned through Mercy Works.

As a Mercy school, a school founded on the Mercy Tradition, we celebrate Mercy Week each year in Term 3 and raise funds and awareness of the wonderful work still being carried out by the sisters of Mercy in Australia, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea through their outreach programme MercyWorks.
