Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Our school is committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment through Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
PBIS focuses on our key expectations: being respectful by listening quietly and raising hands; being responsible by staying on task and cleaning up; being your best by trying hard and seeking improvement; and being kind by sharing and supporting others. We use positive reinforcement such as thanking students for following directions and gently redirecting them when needed. We reinforce expectations by reminding students to walk quietly and keep their areas clean. In the classroom, we acknowledge good behaviour, manage with clear guidelines, and promote teamwork by asking how we can support each other.
Be Respectful “I appreciate how you’re listening.” “Thank you for raising your hand to speak.” “It's great to see you helping your classmates.”
Be Responsible “Great job staying focused on your work!” “Remember to clean up your space before moving on.” “Thankyou for following our class expectations.”
Be Your Best “Thankyou for peservering with your learning!” “Is this your best work?’ “I believe you can do your best!”
Be Kind “How can we make sure everyone feels included?” “Let’s treat others the way you would like to be treated.”
